The Levine Scholars Program is UNC Charlotte's premier merit-based scholarship.

The Forney Creek Restoration Project is over five years in the making, but this summer, scholar Atticus Kenney ’29 is contributing as an intern with . Atticus is responsible for inspecting build sites, monitoring properties to prevent damage and creating a volumetric environmental benefits calculator to quantify the benefits of restoration programs. Once the project is completed, the area will experience an improvement in water quality and fewer instances of flooding as a result of added buffers and native plants.

held one of its summer markets today in Camp North End, offering free produce and flowers to members of the local community. For Thalia Dominguez Martinez ’29, this one was particularly special as it is the last day of her nonprofit internship (the second summer experience for all Levine Scholars). She was also joined by former intern and volunteer Michelle Song ’28.

"As I wrap up my internship at the Bulb, I’m leaving with a much deeper appreciation for the work that goes into keeping a community-focused organization running. Over the past five weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to reorganize the sorting space and contribute to daily operations. My favorite part has been talking to and getting to know everyone the Bulb helps in the community. It’s bittersweet to be finishing my time here, but I’m grateful for everything I’ve learned and the people who made it such a rewarding experience."

Canvas for Our Climate, a civic engagement project in partnership with Clean AIRE NC and the Charlotte Youth Climate Coalition, invites local high school students to explore the intersection of art and environmental science. The project culminates in an annual event bringing together community members for a powerful evening celebrating creativity, collaboration and climate action.

Over the weekend, LSP hosted a regional alumni event in Chicago, Illinois! The group explored the Lincoln Park Zoo and enjoyed building new connections on a beautiful sunny day. No matter where our alum live in the world, they remain connected to the LSP community and committed to improving the program experience.

A prestigious Fulbright U.S. Student Grant award awaits graduate Annabelle Hill ’26! The Levine Scholar will serve as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Malta for the 2026-27 academic year, representing and the United States through teaching, cultural exchange and community engagement. Annabelle also plans to conduct individual research and volunteer with migrants, building on the experiences she began as an undergraduate student at Charlotte.

Congratulations to Madison File ’26 for being recognized as one of an elite group of graduating seniors who received the University Commendations for Leadership and Service. The acknowledgement serves as recognition of Madison's outstanding leadership and commitment to the campus community.

We proudly recognize Noor Chima ’26 as the recipient of The Bonnie E. Cone Leadership award: the highest nonacademic award a student may receive from UNC Charlotte!

This award is presented to a member of the graduating class whose leadership, scholarship and service to the University embodies the spirit of Bonnie E. Cone, the founder of the University who devoted her life to the development of UNC Charlotte. It honors students like Noor who demonstrate a breadth and dedication of involvement, demonstrated initiative in improving the campus community, collaborative leadership, demonstrated integrity, fostering leadership in others and dedication to and pride in the University.

Kennedy Carpenter ’26 is the commencement speaker for the ceremony at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 8. Earning a bachelor of science in nursing, Kennedy will continue full-time at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia—one of the most prestigious hospitals in the nation.

One of the pivotal moments at Charlotte was her LSP-led study abroad experience to South Africa where she studied the impacts of apartheid and the HIV/AIDS epidemic under the lens of healthcare. It was this program that gave Carpenter the confidence to apply to intern at hospitals in major metropolitan cities and ultimately accept an internship at CHOP, in a major city over 400 miles from home.

Presenting: the soon-to-be graduates of the class of 2026! LSP was delighted to host our graduating cohort and their guests for this year’s Senior Banquet. Each scholar was recognized for their contributions to the Charlotte community and their points of pride throughout their undergraduate career. We cannot wait to see what joy and success is waiting for each of them in their future endeavors.
