On Memorial Day, we reflect, honor and remember those who sacrificed their lives for their country. Let us also remember those who continue to deal with the challenges from war, service on the battlefield and other issues after returning home. If you know someone struggling, please extend your help and remember some battles continue long after the war is over.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and it’s a reminder that our mental health and well-being deserve attention. Chronic stress can lead to depression, heart disease, anxiety and affect our physical health. When we reduce or remove stress in our lives, we improve sleep, lower our blood pressure and move through life with clarity and purpose.

Take time each day to improve your mental health and reap the rewards. Small changes can make a BIG difference.

💚Call a friend to catch up or participate in a volunteer activity.

Friday, May 22 is the last day for high school girls to apply for the Queen City Ivy & Pearls Foundation’s Pearls of Culture Mentoring Program for rising 10th-grade girls!

Pearls of Culture is a two-year monthly mentoring program for high school young ladies. Students are matched with female adult mentors who will provide guidance, structure and exposure to help them discover who they are and who they are becoming. During the program, young ladies will build confidence, enjoy the bonds of sisterhood and develop as young leaders to serve their community.

We packed 355 “Power Packs” of non-perishable food and snacks for students attending Hornets Nest Elementary School for our CHIPP (Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack) service project. As our Sorority’s most ambitious childhood hunger program, our efforts provide weekend and holiday meals to bridge the gap for children that depend on school meals.

Thanks to our chapter members who volunteered for our final packing event. Special thanks to our Sisters Yulonda Burris and Whitney Collins, who serve as co-chairmen for this chapter initiative, for your leadership to help us address childhood hunger in our community.
