I am honored to serve as the Director of Hillel & Jewish Life at Queens University of Charlotte, where over the past school year we’ve seen incredible momentum. Together with student leaders, campus partners, and university staff, we’ve created meaningful programs, strengthened connections, and built a space where Jewish life thrives. Our hearts are with the victims, their families, and the Jewish community in Australia following a horrific attack at a Hanukkah celebration in Sydney that claimed the lives of at least 11 people.

As we grieve for those killed in this terrorist attack and in a mass shooting at Brown University only hours earlier, Hillel remains committed to the safety and well-being of Jewish students everywhere -- and to being a place of support during moments like this.

Hanukkah reminds us that even in times of darkness and mourning, we choose light. We will continue to care for our students, support our communities, and stand together with strength and resilience.

Israeli emissaries Mika and Toby facilitated a meaningful discussion with Queens students, faculty, and staff about Israeli society and the current situation in the Middle East.

We explored the layers and complexity behind the headlines — the people, the stories, and the values that connect us all. Together, we reflected on how dialogue, empathy, and curiosity can help us build bridges between communities and strengthen interfaith understanding, even in challenging times.

It was inspiring to see so many young voices committed to learning, questioning, and fostering connection rather than division. 🌍💬🇮🇱
