Congratulations to new Master of Urban Design student Jacob Lyons, who won third place in the "Urban Food Hub" category of the 2020 Steel Design Student Competition for his project, Pesce Plaza, completed while he was a student at Louisiana State University. Pesce Plaza is an educational urban food plaza, community garden center, public park, and micro-culinary school proposed for a site along Baton Rouge’s Plank Road corridor.

In the 1930s, the government-sponsored Home Owners Loan Corporation (HOLC) denied credit access to neighborhoods with high proportion of minority residents. It’s called Redlining. While the 1968 Fair Housing Act made it illegal, the practices are still evident today in the segregated structures of our cities.
