I’m thrilled to have been commissioned to create the FFTC:fwd Housing folio brochure cover for !

The background is a nod to architecture and the vibrant people of our city. The blue house form is a symbol of peace and calm, as our homes should be our sanctuary in the midst of busy lives and the chaos of our society. Everyone deserves a sanctuary.

FFTC:fwd is a new civic empowerment platform. It will empower more people, organizations, and institutions to find what they need to lead in our community by making local issues and more accessible for our community, and by making it easier to see who is doing what and opportunities for collaboration on these key issues.

All of the artist designed folios were displayed at the Community Impact Summit put on by !

Mother’s Day was a lovely one! A nice chat with my Mom, delicious brunch (seriously rolled out of full of happiness & ready for a nap 😃), thoughtful gifts & time with my boys! I’m so lucky to be a Mommy to this delightful sweet pea. No matter how tall he gets or if one day he can pick me up and bench press me over his head, I’ll still call him Sweet Pea. Oh and maybe BooBoo Butt too. 😍😂

I had a lovely afternoon teaching a painting/collage workshop! It was wonderful to come back to .clt to teach again. Everyone played with texture, color, and made artwork with imagery that tied to their home or happy place. 😃

Upcoming Workshop! I’m so excited to be teaching at Arts+ (Formerly Community School of the Arts) Plaza Midwood on Sunday April 19! All are welcome; no experience necessary.

Join me and create abstract paintings that portray a sense of home. Participants will be guided through how to use color, form, and pattern to portray the energy of a place. The ‘house’ icon brings so many associations with home, sanctuary, place, and self, and this workshop will explore those concepts and celebrate the home.

“Peace and Joy Mantra, but Also Burn Down The House (Split in Two)”
&
“Nature and Community Mantra, but Also Burn Down The House (Split in Two”
9” x 12” each
Mixed media on paper

These collages began with drawing meditations in an attempt to calm my nervous system…repeatedly writing mantras like peace, joy and community until the words are no longer legible. They play with the idea of feeling split in two…my rage and heartbreak want justice, to burn the house down, but my compassion and love pray for light in these dark times. The house form can represent ourself, our sanctuary. Nature, community and love are some of the ways we get through.

Don’t be silent. Don’t be gaslit. Our government is murdering innocent people and blatantly lying to us about it, inflicting trauma on families and children, and breaking the law.

I feel split in two—today I played in the snow with my child, sipped hot cocoa and did puzzles while simultaneously I am anxious, angry, and my heart broken for this injustice, the victims, and the shocking state our government has spiraled down to…clearly driven my greed and power.

I pray for peace, love and light for all beings.
