I want to address a warning we as people of God give to our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
I have heard it more in the last 16 years more than ever before.
Each time I hear it, I feel it is somewhat prejudice, bias, hypocritical, and extremely unscriptural.
[I don’t mind if I don’t get a lot of likes on this one. Those that know me, know that I am a teacher at heart and care more about your growth as disciples of Christ, than popularity and likes.]
Here it is:
“DON’T VOTE YOUR COLOR. VOTE YOUR CHRISTIANITY.”
Here is the error in that warning that is problematic for me as a believer.
First question.
How many Presidents have we elected before this election?
The answer is 46, with Joe Biden still in office.
2nd question. Out of those 46 presidents how many were black and how many white?
Answer:
45 white
1 black
3rd question.
Out of the 45 white men elected as President, how many times have anyone, especially those warning voters now, ever warned our white Christian brothers and sisters, “DON’T VOTE YOUR COLOR WHITE”?
I dare say, not many, if any time did any of them walk up to a Christian white brother or sister, or post to our white Christian friends, and warn them not to vote their color white?
Do you agree?
I am not being prejudice here. I am showing you how you might be.
James 2:8-9 have love without partiality
Why do we only make that statement to black Christians, when there is a black person running for the office?
That is the prejudice mindset right there.
If a woman were running, we would probably warn other women, “DON’T VOTE YOUR GENDER”.
But, we never said that when males ran for 46 times.
We would probably hear that same warning for Asians, Indians, Hispanics, just the same.
Have you asked why, for yourself?
Is it that people that are non white have no sense to look at character, policies, issues, struggles in our country, struggles in their communities, their religious beliefs, things that will make life better for their family, their nationality and this United States?
Do we not trust their ability to pray and seek God as we have trust the white race?
I believe we have intelligent people of color in all races (red, yellow, black and white), and ethnicity and genders, and smart enough to vote for who will make life better for our country, our communities, our faith and our families.
Try to trust the God in believers of all shapes, sizes and colors , equally.
We all have the same Spirit to guide us, just as you do.
When you vote, everything matters to you: your faith, your family, your country, community, your nationality, your gender, your children, your adults and your elderly. Seek God’s wisdom for setting your priorities in order.
Now a warning to you.
If you have not spoken or posted that same warning for the last 45 times, don’t start with your own color or own gender.
Examine yourself first.
