Bethel College Forensics

Bethel College Forensics Bethel College Forensics collegiate speech program located in North Newton, Kansas Forensics is an inter-collegiate competitive speech activity.

Students compete in interpretation events (Drama, Poetry, Prose, Duo, and Program Oral Interpretation), limited preparation (Extemporaneous and Impromptu), and platform speaking (Informative, Persuasive, After Dinner Speaking, Communication Analysis).

This weekend, three Thresher competed five events at the spring D3 AFA-NST qualifier in Tyler, Texas. We are happy to announce that all five events qualified for Nationals!
The results are:
Isaiah Smith: POI, 1st; Duo, 1st
Preston Vicenzi: ADS, 3rd; Duo, 1st; Prose, 1st
Sophi England: ADS, 2nd.

Bethel College competed at the Kansas-Nebraska Intercollegiate Forensics State tournament held at Kansas State University!

Senior Isaiah Smith competed in Impromptu Speaking, Duo Interpretation, Poetry Interpretation, Program Oral Interpretation, After Dinner Speaking and Informative Speaking. They received 5th in Duo Interpretation.

Junior Sophia England competed in After Dinner Speaking.

Junior Michaela Wenger competed in Persuasive Speaking.

Sophomore Josef Anderson Competed in Impromptu Speaking.

Sophomore Preston Vicenzi competed in Communication Analysis, Prose Interpretation, Extemporaneous speaking, After Dinner Speaking, Duo Interpretation and Impromptu Speaking. He received 7th place in Impromptu, 5th place in Duo Interpretation, 4th place in Extemporaneous speaking and received 2nd place in Communication Analysis.

The Bethel team also received third place in Division II sweepstakes!

Bethel College’s senior Isaiah Smith was also nominated for the Spirit of KNIFA award for their outstanding character in forensics!

Congratulations to these Threshers and a huge thank you to the Kansas-Nebraska Intercollegiate Forensics Association for allowing us to compete and hosting a tournament to remember!

This past weekend Bethel College competed at University Nebraska Lincoln for the Kansas in Nebraska Invitational (A.K.A. Craig Brown’s last rodeo)!

Senior Isaiah Smith competed in Impromptu Speaking, Duo Interpretation, and Poetry Interpretation. They received 2nd in Impromptu, 2nd in Poetry and championed in Duo Interpretation!

Junior Sophi England competed in After Dinner Speaking and received 2nd place!

Sophomore Preston Vicenzi competed in Communication Analysis, Prose Interpretation, Extemporaneous speaking and . He received 5th place in Prose, and championed in Communication Analysis, Duo Interpretation and Extemporaneous speaking!

The Bethel team also received first place in the tournament for overall sweepstakes!

Hello Thresher Community!

The forensics team is inviting you to our annual Spring Showcase! Each year the forensics team displays some their talent through the three genres of interpretation, limited preparation and finally public address.

This year’s selection for interpretation was Isaiah Smith and Preston Vicenzi performing a Duo Interpretation.

This year’s selection for limited preparation was Preston Vicenzi performing Impromptu speaking.

And this year’s selection for public address is Sophi England performing After Dinner Speaking.

The forensics spring showcase will take place during convocation in the Fine Art Center’s Krehbiel Auditorium, on Monday, February 2nd, at 11am!

After dealing with some technical difficulties we are back on social media and want to share our results with you all!

Sophomore Preston Vicenzi and Senior Isaiah Smith competed at The Halloween Swing!

On day 1,
Isaiah took 5th in After Dinner Speaking, 3rd in Informative Speaking and 7th in Impromptu Speaking!

Preston took 3rd in Communication Analysis, 4th in Extemporaneous speaking and 2nd in Impromptu Speaking!

On day 2,
Isaiah took 6th Informative Speaking and 6th in After Dinner Speaking

Preston took 2nd in Extemporaneous speaking and 6th in Communication Analysis!

Thank you Doane University and The University of Nebraska-Omaha for hosting such a wonderful tournament this Halloween! 🎃

This week and last week Bethel College Forensics competed in two virtual asynchronous tournaments! At Pride of the Preseason- sophomore Preston Vicenzi placed 2nd in extemporaneous speaking! At MAFL Preston placed 4th in extemporaneous speaking!
