Graduate students from the McColl School of Business spent the semester as corporate consultants for Novant Health, tackling organizational culture, leadership challenges, and 12-24 month strategy plans for a healthcare system in the middle of major growth.

"Their recommendations reflected not only strong business acumen, but also a genuine understanding of the human side of culture, change and leadership," said Novant Health VP Tanya Fitzgerald.

Tucked away on the third floor of Rogers Science Building is one of Queens' best-kept secrets — and Haley Hibbert Frey '01 has been tending to it for over a decade. 🌿

As operations manager of the Crowder Greenhouse, Haley has turned a botanical research space into something much more: a classroom, a lab, and a reset button for the entire Queens community.

Her story is one of patience, passion, and coming full circle — from rescuing plants as a biology student to building a living sanctuary that touches every corner of campus life.

Big impact can start with one inspired person.

That’s exactly what happened when Queens University of Charlotte student athlete, Emily Protiva, took the lead - bringing people together to create 60 Care-in-a-Kits for pediatric patients and the nurses who care for them every day.

From hands-on support to thoughtful appreciation, this project touched so many lives. We feel lucky to have community members like Emily who inspire kindness and action all around them!

Sejla Podzic '26, a Business major with a Leadership Concentration and Entrepreneurship Minor, spent her time at Queens doing it all — and then some.

After transferring in the spring of her sophomore year, Sejla went on to captain the women's soccer team, serve as a Resident Assistant, earn induction into Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, and become Rex, the Queens mascot. One unforgettable moment? Traveling to March Madness and making it on national television. "I have the receipts to show it!" she says.

"When I transferred to Queens my spring of my sophomore year, Queens brought peace, stability, happiness, and calm into my life — and of course with all the little bursts of chaos," Sejla shares. "With the community, people, and environment, I was able to rediscover myself and have the courage to always be authentically myself. This school gave me a family and a sense of belonging."

Next up for Sejla: heading to Miami in June for a full-time role as a Membership Sales Representative with the MLB's Miami Marlins.
