More championship history now lives with UNC Charlotte motorsports. Recently, Jan Beatty-Hendley presented our motorsports students with one of Alan Kulwicki's helmets from his early racing days, entrusted to her by the estate of Melinda Gossage, the wife of one of Alan's former pit crew members.

Alan was an engineer who became a champion. He did it his way. The fact that our motorsports program carries his name is no small thing. It is a north star for every student chasing a future in this sport.

Thank you to Jan, to Melinda's family, and to the Kulwicki team for keeping Alan's legacy in motion and giving the next generation a foundation on which to forge their own future.
