Two summers ago, Tim Dodson found himself in the chaos of a white supremacist rally, choking on chemicals and struggling to breathe. Now, as outgoing editor-in-chief, he takes a look at the important role the Cavalier Daily played bringing news stories like that to the University community.

Richard Neel, the CDAA's first president and a former Cav Daily Editor-in-Chief, writes about The Cavalier Daily's history of chronicling race relations and challenging racism at the University:

"Americans still need to talk honestly with one another about the history of race in the country and what it means for us today. But it’s a conversation that the Cavalier Daily has been facilitating — and covering — for decades."

As editor, I oversaw coverage that chronicled ‘the black experience’ and denounced student events at a whites-only club.
