The Peer Health Educators (PHEs) are a diverse group of 70 UVA students trained to empower their peers to practice holistic health and well-being in a positive, supportive, interactive, and nonjudgmental manner. Comprehensive training prepares the PHEs to facilitate dynamic outreach programs; to guide confidential patient education sessions; to plan and implement evidence-based awareness events; and to promote a healthy and inclusive culture at UVA.

Feeling worried about heading home for the holidays is completely valid. It’s important to acknowledge your feelings, set boundaries, plan ahead, and reach out to appropriate resources if you need support. Remember, your feelings matter, and your safety always comes first.🩵

One potential resource is UVA’s Violence Prevention and Advocacy (VPA) team. VPA offers a safe, confidential space for students who may be navigating concerns related to family or relationship violence, harassment, hazing, stalking, or other difficult situations. Their advocates can help with safety planning, connecting to campus or community resources, exploring academic support options, or simply providing someone to talk to without judgment.

To learn more, visit the VPA page on the website.
