Looking to get involved in a ministry on campus? UKirk is a welcoming community that explores what it means to receive and share divine love, and to live out our faith in a complex world. We’ll be participating in the online activities fair on Friday, August 28, 12-3pm, where you can find out more about us and how to get involved.

“In the wake of the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Nina Pop, Sean Reed, and now George Floyd, it is imperative that we have a conversation about where we, as a society, go from here. It seems there is an overwhelming expectation that Black activists and organizers will say something profound about Black death, but what I have to offer is not some profound truth but a simple request: Take action.” — Charlottesville/UVA student leader Zyahna Bryant

Here’s what you can do.

If you are facing food insecurity during this time of disruption, this resource is available for you.

If you need someone to listen and hold space for you as the current crisis prompts spiritual anxieties and questions, I'm here for you. Email [email protected], and we'll find time to talk via phone, FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, Google Hangout or another way to be in social solidarity during this time of physical distancing!

UVA Community Food Pantry (CFP) is a resource to help prevent food insecurity throughout the UVA community.

Friends, with the recent decision of UVA to move to online classes following Spring Break, we are postponing The Border Is Here workshop on April 5. We hope to offer this dynamic learning opportunity in the future. In the meantime, we are holding you in prayer during the uncertainty related to the coronavirus.

As you wash your hands regularly, follow other CDC precautions, and practice social distancing as appropriate, we hope you are able to stay well in a holistic sense, too. Please feel free to reach out to Dorothy with any pastoral concerns for which you would appreciate support!

Blessing in the Chaos

To all that is chaotic in you,
let there come silence.

Let there be
a calming
of the clamoring,
a stilling
of the voices that
have laid their claim
on you,
that have made their
home in you,

that go with you
even to the
holy places
but will not
let you rest,
will not let you
hear your life
with wholeness
or feel the grace
that fashioned you...

Let there be
an opening
into the quiet
that lies beneath
the chaos,
where you find
the peace
you did not think
possible
and see what shimmers
within the storm.
