We are hiring for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice in the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, with an expected start date of August 1, 2027. This position is a new tenure-track position awarded by the university in response to continued growth in the department. We will begin reviewing applications on October 15th. We are seeking candidates with a specialization in policing, with preference given to those with knowledge of spatial analysis (e.g., crime mapping). Please share with your networks!

Congratulations to Dr. Lutgen-Nieves and co-authors on their recent publication, "Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder: A National Study Comparing Criminal Justice and Community Samples" in Substance Use & Misuse!

Their study finds that people referred to substance use treatment through the criminal justice system are less likely to receive medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) than those entering treatment through other pathways. The findings highlight another important gap in access to evidence-based care—and the need for stronger integration between criminal justice and treatment systems.
