A $25 million federal grant will help bring a new generation of transportation technology to downtown Chattanooga, with UTC playing a central role in research, education and workforce development.

The grant, awarded to CARTA through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s BUILD program, will support autonomous electric shuttles and the infrastructure needed to operate them. A new Live-Learning Lab will give UTC students and faculty the opportunity to study and develop autonomous transportation technology alongside an operating transit system, building on research from UTC’s Center for Urban Informatics and Progress.

The project will also help prepare students for careers in autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and connected infrastructure.

Happy National College Colors Day! 💙💛

Today is all about showing a little extra school spirit and celebrating the colors that bring our college communities together.

Here at UTC, there’s no question what colors we’re wearing: blue and gold (!!!) Whether you’re on campus, at work, or representing the Mocs from miles away, today is a great day to show your UTC pride.

Once a Moc, always a Moc. 💙💛

Meet four Mocs who never really left đź‘‹

For Caroline Jacobs, Kailey Agoo, Ryan Geyer and Dixie Edmondson, their on-campus jobs turned into something bigger. What started as part-time work in recreation, IT, and marketing led each of them straight into full-time careers at UTC after graduation.

Now they're using what they learned in the classroom and on the job to support the same campus community that shaped them. đź’™ đź’›
