The Presidential Service Corps/Bonner Leadership Program is a service based scholarship program that provides its members with a $5,000 scholarship upon completion of 300 hours of community service as well as leadership development throughout the academic year. Committed to the belief that an education includes both fostering of intellectual growth and the development of students into responsible
citizens, President Harris created the Presidential Service Corps (PSC) program. The PSC is a group of motivated students who have exhibited leadership skills, success in intellectual and academic pursuits, and a passion for making positive contributions to society through their service volunteerism. PSC leaders have opportunities to gain skills that transfer to the “real world” while serving their campus, local, regional, and global communities in powerful ways. In 2007 the Presidential Service Corps partnered with the Corella and Bertram F. Bonner Foundation to further develop student civic leaders at Widener University and form the Presidential Service Corps/Bonner Leaders Program (PSC/Bonner). The Bonner Program is designed to heighten overall education and members receive this by asking them to engage in ongoing service work and helping them develop the experience, skills, knowledge, and values necessary to make that work meaningful and lasting. Bonner Leader Programs hold these commitments: Social Justice, Civic Engagement, Spiritual Exploration, Diversity, International Perspective, and Community Building.
