Bringing a taste of home to Widener 🇬🇷🍽️

International student Karol Trivola, a native of Greece, recently conducted an International Teaching Kitchen, teaching students, faculty & staff how to make soutzoukakia smyrneika, a meatball based dish based on a family recipe.

The International Teaching Kitchen is a collaboration between Widener’s International office and Aramark Collegiate Hospitality’s Widener Dining Services, under Executive Chef Matt Clarke.

Widener Dining recently won the prestigious Edwin R. Golden Award for Inclusive Excellence from the National Association of College Auxiliary Services. The campus dining program was recognized for the teaching kitchen and its success in creating meaningful opportunities for cultural exchange, inclusion & belonging through food.

While cooking, Karol shared stories of home and answered questions about life back in Greece.

Flying the Widener flag at the Philadelphia Union!!

As part of our partnership with the Union, we presented the team’s match against New England Revolution on Saturday.

The Pride was well repped with students, Widener University Alumni, faculty, staff, and of course Chester & Melrose, cheering on our hometown team.

The ceremonial first kick was handled by Widener School of Business Administration - SBA students MacKenzie Cahall and Tyler Grose.

Go Union. Go Pride.

Widener University Athletics inducted 8 former athletes, including the nationally recognized basketball coach Phil Martelli, into our Athletics Hall of Fame during Homecoming Weekend.

The inaugural recipient of the Peter J. Rohana Award for Service to Widener Athletics was also inducted.

In addition to Martelli, the group included:

* Kate Dellinger Doherty ’13, women’s basketball
* Devon “Tony” Brown ’00, track and field
* Joseph V. Carter Jr. ’65, football, wrestling and track
* Dave Duffy ’89, football
