We demand justice for Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Tony McDade, Ahmad Albert, Nina Pop, and many other victims of anti-Black violence and police brutality in the U.S. Given that social work has a mixed history of being on the side of racial justice, it is so important for the social work community to commit to becoming actively anti-racist in our education, practice, and research going forward. And as LGBTQIA+ students, we want to also recognize that Black Trans individuals are disproportionately targeted and harmed in these acts of violence, and so we have a unique responsibility to uplift Black Trans voices within our communities.
