Lynch School undergraduate students took home nearly one-third of the honors at the 2026 Ever to Excel Awards ceremony, despite constituting just ~6% of the undergraduate population.

On April 13-14, Dean Stanton Wortham and Tyler J. VanderWeele, professor of Epidemiology and director of the Human Flourishing Program at Harvard University, hosted a workshop on Character and Flourishing Trends and Resources for Schools and Universities.

Hosted on the Heights, the invited workshop brought together a group of researchers and practitioners to reflect on the state of the field and identify effective tools for character formation. Participants from institutions such as University of Alabama and Wake Forest University presented a variety of resources, discussing scalable implementations across educational contexts.

As a result of the workshop, a comprehensive case study paper will examine the state of both current research and practice in addition to expanding upon the tentative set of resources presented in the workshop.

The second annual NextGen STEMFest brought inspiration and innovation to the Charles River Museum in Waltham. Hosted on May 30 by Professor and Buehler Faculty Fellow Mike Barnett in partnership with the Charles River Collaboratory, the event showcased inventive STEM creations and services, providing local students with opportunities to lead interactive workshops and immerse themselves in a community of STEM innovators.

Joined by leaders from Microsoft, Mathworks, and Mass Life Sciences, members of the community experienced STEM in a new way. 🤖

We are thrilled to announce the release of a new book by Associate Professor Raquel Muñiz and co-authors Leah Hollis and Tara Blackshear: “Disrupt the “Not-Telling”: Gatekeeping Issues on the way to Tenure and Promotion for Black Women at HBCUs, MSIs, and PWIs.”

The book presents real-life case studies and narratives from Black women to investigate the lack of their representation in tenured higher education roles.

Kinnane, a professor renowned for her passion and significant contributions to the field of higher education, the Lynch School’s Educational Leadership and Higher Education department celebrates her work with an annual award, the Mary T. Kinnane Award. This award recognizes the outstanding achievement and excellence in academics, service, and character.

This year’s ceremony celebrates the accomplishments of all graduates from the Lynch School’s M.A., Ed.D., and Ph.D. programs in higher education, acknowledging their hard work and dedication to advancing the field.
