This morning, Yalil Nieves (MA ’10, EdD ’26) walked the graduation stage for the fourth time—but she wasn’t alone.

At the School of Education commencement ceremony, her son, Norberto Nieves (MEd ’26), also earned his Master’s in Community Counseling.

"Seeing him graduate, it's one thing, but seeing him graduate in a field that's going to allow him to be of service to others ... I think that gives me even more pride." — Yalil Nieves

For the first time in program history, Loyola’s Softball team has earned the No. 1 seed in the 2026 Betterment Atlantic 10 Softball Tournament—and senior catcher, Abbie Gregus was a part of this incredible achievement.

A special education major in the School of Education, Abbie has been a dedicated player of the team since her freshman year, excelling both on the field and in the classroom.

The double-elimination tournament begins Wednesday, May 6, with the championship game set for Saturday, May 9.

Join us in congratulating Abbie and cheering on the Ramblers as they make their run for the title! 🥎
