Many SAIC Arts Administration and Policy students in our Management Studio course have contributed to this ongoing work. This Chicago-based project continues to broaden and deepen its network and a legacy of community collaboration. Congratulations to all the involved partners, and big cheers to our students. Wonderful to see this project continue to grow.

The city's Cultural Asset Mapping Project (CAMP) uses creative storytelling, data visualization, and many other collaborative tools to build arts engagement on the south and west sides.

When facing strategic challenges, how can and do arts organizations of color leverage their experience and histories of community orientation to increase their resilience, while sustaining their relevance?
1. We are currently seeking eligible arts organizations of color* to join us in a new initiative that will explore this question​. We are also seeking researchers to study the organizations' efforts.
2. We are also seeking researchers whose experience would​ be a good fit for this initiative. Read the research RFP​ for complete details. Letters of intent are due by August 20, 2021, and full proposals are due by October 4, 2021​.

The Wallace Foundation is launching a five-year, $53 million initiative focused on arts organizations of color.

Representatives from Chicago-based, culture-specific arts institutions discuss how such institutions are uniquely positioned to take on the role of culture keepers and enable communities of color to find power in their collective identities. Leading the roundtable conversation are Debra Yepa-Pappan, artist and Native Community Engagement Coordinator for the Native American Exhibition Hall at the Field Museum; Cesareo Moreno, Visual Arts Director and Chief Curator at National Museum of Mexican Art; and Carla Stillwell, Executive Director of the Stillwell Institute for Contemporary Black Art.
