The State of Illinois just announced the FAFSA deadline for the Map Grant for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Submit your FAFSA by April 23rd at 11:00 PM CT to be considered for the 2026-27 Map Grant.

Applications submitted after this deadline will be waitlisted and will not receive immediate Map grant funds. For more information, check ISAC’s website for updates.

The federal funding freeze that was slated to take effect at 5 p.m. ET on January 28 was temporarily blocked by a federal judge. A hearing has been scheduled for Monday, February 3, at 11 a.m. ET, at which time the judge will determine whether to issue a longer-term stay of Office of Management and Budget's (OMB) funding pause while the lawsuit moves forward.

NASFAA is actively collaborating with our contacts at the U.S. Department of Education to assess the potential impacts. We hope to share more information soon.
