🤝 Community Champion Award | Honoring Sal Becovic

At the AIC & TISA Banquet, AIC Executive Vice President Romana Manzoor presented the Community Champion Award to Mr. Sal Becovic, recognizing his generosity, leadership, and commitment to community.

“Across Chicago and beyond, his contributions have helped strengthen neighborhoods, support schools and masajid, empower organizations, and build communities where families, faith, and opportunity can flourish. His generosity is not simply about giving; it is about building, sustaining, and investing in a better future for generations to come.”

At a pivotal moment in AIC’s history, he stood with the college as a major benefactor, a trusted voice, and an advocate deeply invested in its mission and future.

In his remarks, Mr. Becovic turned the honor into a call to action for everyone in the room:
“I want us all to champion. This is not a destination. We’re not here to win, we’re here to champion. We’re here to champion Muslim education… I believe American Muslims should be leaders of the Muslim world, and that means we have to have strong educational institutions.”

May Allah bless him, his family, and his continued service to our communities. 🤍

🌟 Legacy Award | Honoring the Community of Imam W. Deen Mohammed

As AIC Board Member Dr. Aisha El-Amin shared in presenting the award:
“This was more than the founding of a college. It was a declaration that Muslim Americans could build institutions of intellectual excellence, grounded in faith… Your history is part of our history. Your legacy is part of our legacy, and our future is one we hope to build together.”

Dr. Jalilah Muhammad, a distinguished educator and valued partner of AIC, accepted the award on behalf of her cousin, Sister Layla Muhammad, and the Muhammad family. We were honored to welcome several members of the Muhammad family that evening. JazakAllahu khayran for a legacy that continues to inspire generations.

˹Remember˺ when Abraham was tested by his Lord with ˹certain˺ commandments, which he fulfilled. Allah said, “I will certainly make you into a role model for the people.” Abraham asked, “What about my offspring?” Allah replied, “My covenant is not extended to the wrongdoers.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:124)

Prophet Ibrahim (AS) was made a leader for all humanity only after he passed the tests he was given. Leadership in Islam is earned through faith, sincerity and steadfastness. May Allah make us among those who fulfill what He asks of us.
