Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month is a powerful reminder of the essential role GI nurses play in prevention, early detection and patient education. As colorectal cancer becomes the deadliest cancer among adults under 50, SGNA stands with our community in advancing conversations that save lives—helping patients understand symptoms, navigate screening options and access timely care.

Check out the new national findings from the Colorectal Cancer Alliance’s 2026 State of Screening Study which reveals insights that underscore just how critical GI nursing leadership is in closing knowledge gaps and empowering patients to act.

GI Nurses & Associates Week 2026 is coming up, and we are collecting stories of those who are Rooted in Care. 🌱

This year’s theme, Rooted in Care: Growing the Future of GI, honors the GI nurses and associates whose compassion, expertise and dedication form the foundation of exceptional patient care. These are the professionals who support their patients and nurture the next generation of excellence in our specialty.

If someone has made a meaningful impact on your GI journey, inspired you, supported you or helped you overcome a challenge this year, we want to hear your story. Selected submissions will be featured during GI Nurses & Associates Week, March 15 to 21, 2026.
