Ricky is a senior double majoring in biological sciences and philosophy. In his four years at UIC, he has been driven by a passion for serving underserved populations. He has volunteered with a free clinic supporting South American migrants, where he developed educational programs and multilingual care packages to help families manage preventable health conditions.
On campus, Ricky founded UIC's first residence hall study groups program, Study Buddies, connecting students with peers and academic resources to support their transition into higher education.
He also runs a student-led music group, called Notes to Share, that performs for underserved communities across the Chicago area. His work reflects a consistent commitment to equipping individuals — whether patients or students — with the tools to advocate for themselves and thrive independently. He is also actively involved in research, investigating Alzheimer’s disease with the Ondrus lab—work he has presented in multiple conferences across the nation.
Ricky aspires to pursue medicine with a focus on underserved urban communities, bridging clinical care with education to address health disparities at their root.
