Northeastern Illinois University Honors Program

Northeastern Illinois University Honors Program The OFFICIAL page for Northeastern Illinois University Honors Program Scholarship applications are due July 15 for fall-spring awards.

Uniquely flexible for students in all fields of study and at almost every stage of degree progress, the University Honors Program (UHP) is open to eligible undergraduates who have at least a 3.5 GPA and a minimum of three academic terms left before graduating from NEIU. UHP students enjoy:

• priority registration
• small classes taught by our finest faculty
• personalized academic advising

extended library checkout privileges
• dedicated library staff and programming
• funds to support thesis work
• a stimulating curriculum that cultivates critical and independent thinking
• and the distinction of “Honors Scholar” on your diploma at graduation

The UHP offers you a chance to excel at every stage of your undergraduate education. To Freshmen and Sophomores, the UHP provides unique, interdisciplinary Honors courses that fulfill General Education requirements. For Juniors and Seniors, Adapted Honors Courses develop research skills, create opportunities for international field work, and prepare students to work with faculty mentors to build and complete an Honors Thesis. As an academic challenge that few NEIU undergraduates meet, the Honors Thesis affords an invaluable opportunity to invest in your academic or professional future. Completing the 300-level Honors Scholars curriculum and the Honors Thesis will provide a distinct advantage in the job market or in graduate program admissions. The UHP has a limited number of Merit Tuition Scholarships available on a competitive basis to UHP students who maintain excellent standing in the Program. We invite you to take advantage of this unique opportunity to join the University Honors Program. Applications to the program are accepted at any time in the Honors Office (Building B, Room 141). Please visit our website for information about our curricula and to print the application form. For additional information, contact us at (773) 442-6044 or [email protected].
