The University of Illinois Cancer Center and Cancer Center member Abiola Ibraheem, MD, who is the North American Vice President for the African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC), again helped to put on another Best of ASCO Africa Conference, this time in Nigeria.

Best of ASCO conferences feature abstracts and slides from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting held in late spring in Chicago. During this year's annual ASCO meeting, Ibraheem, a physician-scientist, helped lead discussions on global cancer collaboration at an AORTIC event.

UI Health continues to receive national recognition, with one adult specialty earning a national ranking and another earning regional recognition, according to U.S. News and World Report’s 2026–2027 Best Hospitals rankings.

The rankings listed the ophthalmology program at No. 16 in the nation and the hospital’s at No. 5 for both the Chicago metro area and Illinois.
