"We started dating in 2017, the summer before we started college. Before moving in together in 2023, we did distance for 6 years; 4 years of undergrad (Grace went to Creighton University and Luke went to Oklahoma State University) and 2 years where Grace got her masters at UChicago and Luke began training to be a pilot in the Navy. We finally got married in 2025! Since meeting we have lived in Texas, Florida, and we are currently stationed in Spain!

Our first dance song was the acoustic version of “The Great Escape” by Boys Like Girls. The song is about two best friends moving away from their hometown to go on great adventures. Not only is the song incredibly nostalgic for us, but we feel it describes our relationship with each other and our concept of home."

This week, we are celebrating the love story of Grace Bryant ('23) and Luke Casper, who tied the knot in Bond Chapel on July 12, 2025💍

"We met at Life’s Too Short as I invited his friend to my birthday party and Lowell tagged along. Our first official date was to see Chicago at Doc Films and get wings and beer at the onsite pub after."

This week, we're celebrating the love story of Jennifer Afdahl Rice (AM, '02) and Lowell Rice (MPP, '91), who got married in Bond Chapel on June 16, 2007💐 They even had a love song written for them - listen at the link below!

We chose to get married at Bond Chapel because the U of C campus was our special place and the chapel is beautiful (and is one of the few non-Catholic churches approved to host a Catholic wedding)."
