We are happy to announce the Pronoun Sticker Initiative!

There've been concerns regarding the incorrect usage of pronouns within the classroom and events at Harris. Thus, this initiative aims to make Harris a more inclusive and welcoming space by nudging students and faculty to use students' correct pronouns.

There are a few ways to utilize these stickers:

Larger pronoun stickers are available in the Harris Student Kitchenette (see attached picture). These are meant to be used on your name tents or on the back of your laptop if you no longer have your name tent, to make the classroom environment more inclusive.

Note: you can also print a new name tent (see instructions on how to do so on the Harris Student Handbook Canvas page under the “New Name Tent” module). Yellow stickers are she/her, orange stickers are he/him, green stickers are they/them, and the blue stickers are available for you to write in any other pronouns you might use or something like the phrase “ask me.”

Smaller pronoun stickers will be available at events. The Harris Student Engt team will have these available at their events, and HSOs or other offices can choose to have them at their events as well. These smaller stickers are designed to fit on your magnetic name tags that we received from Harris at the beginning of the year, and thus can be used for any event. Alternatively, they can be a one-time use sticker as well by sticking them on your clothing, although for sustainability, the name tags are preferred.

You may take multiple stickers if you use multiple sets of pronouns. We ask that you please do not abuse the stickers or take the whole roll as these are meant to make Harris a more welcoming place, and thus are to be meant to be available to everyone.

We also want to highlight a letter written with to address gender inclusivity at Harris. This is a crucial topic, and we hope that you will take the time to read the letter and review the resources in the letter so we can build a better environment at Harris. You can show support by signing on to the letter here!

Please utilize the pronoun stickers and push yourself to make Harris a welcoming environment for all!

HSG is excited to announce that with the help of Facilities and , the Keller Center will now host a 24x7 display stream of live locations of UChicago shuttles & CTA buses that stop at Keller & through the campus on the TV near the Keller entrance gate!

With this, we hope to improve the accessibility of info for existing shuttles and the buses that students & staff use to commute across the city, some of which run all through the night as well. The new shuttle routes that were recently announced by the University & any other updates / service alerts to routes will be reflected in real-time too.

Dear members of the community,

Your fellow Harristas need your help! The healthcare crisis is devastating the lives and livelihoods of millions in India. HSG stands in solidarity with the members of the Harris Indian community and their families, both here and back home. Today I’m writing to ask you to come together in hopes of saving the lives of those battling Covid-19.

To aid relief efforts at the grassroots level back home, the South Asian Students' Policy Association (SASPA) at Harris joins forces with other Universities in the U.S. to raise funds that will be sent to NGOs based in India. This fundraiser is in conjunction with the broader network of South Asian students in the US in support of India's fight against COVID-19.

I am asking for your help as the Co-President of HSG, but also as a member of this community who feels for my fellow classmates who are going through losses and pain. Please donate, circulate, and help support this initiative in any way you can!

Sincerely,
Fanmei
