Calling freshmen and sophomores: submit to DePaul’s Library Research Prize! Submissions are due April 14.
In partnership with the First-Year Program Writing Showcase, the library offers its Library Research Prize to honor First-Year Program authors whose research essays best exemplify the application of library research skills.
Current DePaul students may enter any researched essay written in a First-Year Program course taken between SQ2024 and WQ2025.
A $150 prize (the Joanne Roschmann Freshman Writing Scholarship) will be awarded to up to three applicants whose essays and research statements best demonstrate the effective use of library information resources, the application of research skills, and evidence of decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking approaches to the research challenges they encountered. Winners will also be invited to display their work as a digital poster at the First-Year Program Writing Showcase on May 20, 2025.
