Join us for a reading and conversation with Peruvian Professor and writer Rocío Ferreira, who will discuss her recently published book —De las Veladas literarias a la Cocina ecléctica: Mujeres, nación y cultura en el Perú decimonónico— (Ediciones MYL, 2025).

6:00pm Rocío Ferreira Reverditto in Conversation with Emmy Award Winner Journalist Claudia Cisneros Méndez, (DePaul University)
Dr. Rocío Ferreira is the Chair of the Department of Women's and Gender Studies and a Professor of Latin American literature, culture, and cinema at DePaul University in Chicago; she also directs the international festival Poesía en Abril. The ### TUMI US Award 2025 honored Dr. Ferreira with the title of “GRAN AMAUTA” 2025, in acknowledgment of her dedication to teaching, spirit of solidarity, a strong work ethic, professionalism, and a deep commitment to the Peruvian communities in the United States. She holds a PhD in Latin American Literature and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. She specializes in 19th-century and contemporary visual and literary culture authored by women. Her research interests include foundational narratives and 19th-century journalism, war literature (19th–21st centuries), and contemporary themes regarding the configuration of memory in literature, culture, and film.
