With great sorrow, we share the news that the Fourth of July parade shooting in Highland Park took the lives of two DePaul alumni, Kevin and Irina McCarthy. We remain heartbroken by this news and the seemingly never-ending atrocious acts of violence that have taken the lives of our alumni and countless others. We mourn with Highland Park, Chicago and our nation.

With great sorrow, I am sharing news that the Fourth of July parade shooting in Highland Park took the lives of two DePaul alumni, Kevin and Irina McCarthy. We learned about the couple’s connection to DePaul late Tuesday.

CHICAGO - DePaul track & field thrower Noelle Malkamaki competed at the U.S. Paralympic National Championship last Thursday in Miramar, Fla., claiming the national title in the shot put. Malkamaki, a DePaul junior, won the event with a throw of 12.18m, a national record in the shot put F46.

For the first time in two years, DePaul University graduates celebrated the end of their academic journey with in-person commencement ceremonies. Approximately 4,500 Blue Demons participated in the weekend's festivities, while a total of roughly 6,300 students earned their degree this academic year.
