When is a Ray Johnson collage not a Ray Johnson collage?
When it’s a fake Ray Johnson collage by Richard C.

The exhibition catalog, “Original Fake Ray Johnson Collages by Richard C.,” from an exhibition currently on view at the Greenville County Museum of Art, illustrates how Richard C.’s works “mimic Johnson’s signature style, but their playful “faux” authorship invites viewers into a deeper dialogue about influence, collaboration, and artistic exchange. Rooted in the traditions of correspondence art, the works highlight the act of sending, receiving, and transforming ideas over time. What emerges is both tribute and invention—an exploration of authenticity, connection, and the creative possibilities of imitation.”

You can find this beautifully designed and heavily illustrated catalog on the new book shelf (call no. N6537.C678 A4 2026).

Currently on view at the Art Institute of Chicago, “Korean National Treasures: 2,000 Years of Art” is an extraordinary exhibition of over 140 objects from the National Museum of Korea, many of them designated “National Treasures.”
Accompanying the exhibit is a catalog which serves as a comprehensive introduction to Korean art featuring color reproductions of all the works, as well as essays by both Korean and American experts discussing painting, sculpture, Buddhist works of art, and ceramics from the First Century, B.C.E. to the 20th century.

Browse the catalog, then see the exhibition. Or wander through the exhibition, and read up on works that are intriguing. Either way, it’s a great opportunity to learn more about the arts of Korea.

SAIC community members are invited to join us for Curious Cinema - an occasional film screening series featuring selections from the Flaxman Library’s 16mm Film Study Collection. On Wednesday, March 25th at 4:30pm, join us in MacLean 1307 for a program around the theme “Home and Away” with films by: Zeinabu Davis, Jean Sousa, Dima El-Horr, Nora Jacobson and Jodie Mack!

🍫Xerox Candy Bar 🍫

Today we’re spotlighting Xerox Candy Bar, the oldest student org on campus. Founded in 2006, they continue to highlight the work of their fellow comic artist students through the biannual publication of a zine. They happen to be hosting a ready tonight, Friday the 13th of March in the library’s special collections. Join us from 3:30–5:30 to celebrate. Their pop-up library is still up in the reading room too. Stop by for a free bookmark and to find out more information.

We’re heading into Women’s History Month and have just set up a fresh display in the library! Filled with titles on women artists, writers, filmmakers, and designers, there’s something for everyone’s interest.

Selections from past issues of Xerox Candy Bar - student run club dedicated to drawing comics and publishing them. (Ongoing rotation throughout the semester.)
