Black history is more than a month—it is an ongoing movement, a legacy of resilience, brilliance, and transformation that continues to unfold in real time. We are the descendants of visionaries, revolutionaries, and builders who defied oppression to create paths forward. Their struggles and triumphs paved the way, but the story is far from over.

Today, Black people continue to shape history in every field—engineering and architecture, social justice and education, music and art, science and technology. We are designing equitable cities, reclaiming our narratives, and building economic power. We are challenging systems, reshaping culture, and pushing forward for justice and liberation.

But as we celebrate our past and present, we must also ask: How are we making space for Black futures? How do we honor our ancestors by ensuring that the next generations have access to safety, resources, and opportunities? How do we move beyond survival to true freedom and self-determination?

Black history is now. Black futures are in our hands. The work continues.

📢 BSU General Body Meeting – Deep Dive Discussion! 📢

🗓️ Date: Wednesday, October 23rd
⏰ Time: 12:45 PM – 1:45 PM
📍 Location: SB 106

In recognition of Diversity Awareness Month and LGBTQ+ History Month, we’re diving into two thought-provoking questions:

1. How can we, as a community, better acknowledge and support the unique challenges faced by individuals who navigate both Black and LGBTQ+ identities?

2. What meaningful actions can we take to promote intersectional allyship, ensuring that our advocacy for diversity and inclusion is both intentional and transformative?

This is an opportunity to explore the intersections of race, sexuality, and identity and to discuss how we can be better allies and advocates. Let’s come together to create solutions that foster inclusivity and celebrate all dimensions of who we are. 🖤🌈

FREE food and drinks will be available! 🍽️🥤 Let’s have a meaningful conversation and build stronger, more inclusive bonds.

🎬 Event: Screening of Judas and the Black Messiah 🎬

🗓 Date: Friday, October 11th
🕖 Time: 7 PM - 10 PM
📍 Location: SH 118

Join us for a powerful screening of Judas and the Black Messiah, a film that delves deep into the life of Fred Hampton, the inspiring leader of the Black Panther Party, and the betrayal he faced from FBI informant William "Bill" O'Neal.

This gripping drama not only highlights the struggles for social justice and community empowerment but also raises important questions about the nature of loyalty and the consequences of betrayal.

🤔 In what ways do the themes of loyalty and betrayal resonate in today's social movements?
💭 How can we learn from the past to strengthen our own communities against systemic injustice?
📢 What role do you think individuals play in shaping the course of social change?

After the screening, we’ll have an open discussion where you can share your thoughts and insights. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with a critical chapter in history and explore its relevance to our lives today. We look forward to seeing you there!
