USAO Economics Department

USAO Economics Department A community for Economics majors, alums, faculty, and friends at the University of Science and Arts

The Economics program at USAO educates students in a broad range of economic theories and applications. Because economics seeks to understand how societies arrange complex systems of production and distribution within larger political, cultural and social institutions, it is necessarily interdisciplinary in nature. The Economics program thus draws from history, political science, sociology, mathematics and other liberal arts disciplines, complementing the IDS Core Curriculum.

Roach, who has been accepted into the Econ PhD program at Colorado State University! Daniel, who is a double major in the USAO Department of Sociology, makes us proud every day, and we’re not surprised that a major grad program wants him, too.

As I watch—and participate in—the great inflation debate, I find myself thinking back to my time as an undergraduate, studying intermediate microeconomics with Professor John F. Henry. Henry was masterful in the classroom, and he’s the reason I decided to pursue my graduate studies in economic...
