I WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE OUR NEWLY APPOINTED DIRECTOR OF EVENTS AND A QUICK UPDATE ON HIS SUMMER ACTIVITIES!

Clint Hollister, MRS Director of Events 🎊
“All of the darkness in the universe cannot extinguish the single candle that can be used to ignite the others."

Institution/Program:
Sustainable Manufacturing at CSU Chico

Summary:
I eased nicely into Summer 2019 by spending quality time with my friends day hiking and listening to music. It took off (quite literally) during skydiving with some friends from the MESA/MEP program. We jumped out of the plane from 18,000' to enjoy a 1.5 minute freefall over the Monterey Peninsula. Then, I spent 3 days hiking in beautiful Auburn, CA, followed by a backpacking trip on Section J of the Pacific Crest Trail. Then, I stayed at a hostel in Truckee to enjoy some live music and time swimming in Kings Beach and Tahoe Park Beach. I then went back to work preparing for Fall by organizing my room, programming my PC for remote access, staying fit and fed in the process, and resulting in vastly improved culinary skills. Finally, before starting the semester, I went to Monterey, Yosemite, Kirkwood, Zion National Park, San Diego, and Tijuana. My Spanish is another skill that is improving and I would love to keep practicing. Words cannot describe how excited I am to work with our team to plan out events.

Institution/Program:
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA)

OPTIMIZATION AND REPLACEMENT OF THE CURRENT DOOR COMPONENTS PRODUCTION.

Summary:
"When I was first informed about the opportunity to work for Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) as an intern, I was overwhelmed with excitement. I couldn't contain myself. The moment I set foot on their Headquarters in Portland, Oregon, I knew then and there that this opportunity was huge. At DTNA, I am responsible for finding solutions to projects and tasks that I am assigned. It truly is real engineering work. Your work or design has the potential to go into production after it has been approved - that's huge!"

LET’S SEE WHAT OUR NEWLY APPOINTED TREASURER IS DOING OVER THE SUMMER!

Mechatronics Intern:
Jose Luis Leon MRS Treasurer
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step”

Institution/Program:
Leidos Defense

Summary:
"Currently learning more about electronics and the manufacturing processes. I also learned about RF, radars, and how a group of individuals with different specialties can come together to bring a system to work. It's great having to apply different knowledge earned from my electrical classes on the actual field! For example, the PID values that relate to oscillations we learned in differential equations, Boolean logic from EECE144 and practiced my programming skills in C++. Furthermore, I utilized measuring devices to measure power gains and read electrical and mechanical drawings to run troubleshooting on systems.
Lucky that CSU Chico offers so many extensive hands-on labs that gave me an introduction to the instruments we used and to LEIDOS for giving me the opportunity to sharpen my skills and add more tools under my belt!"
