Congratulations to Leader Mai Xiong! She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. In the fall, she will enter graduate school to earn a California Teaching Credential. We know how important it is to have role models that look like us. Mai will send a powerful message of achievement in science to both Hmong students and all female students. Thank you Mai!

Congratulations to Leader Elizabeth Lo. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Art Studio with a focus on Digital Media. During her time at Chico State she deeply explored the art techniques that would best communicate her thoughts, beliefs and messages in the most personal, powerful way. There may be no word for art in Hmong but Elizabeth is making sure everyone knows what it is and its importance. Go and create Elizabeth! You inspire us.

Congratulations to Leader, Jennifer Yang. She received her Master of Arts Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Adapted Physical Education. She was named Most Outstanding Graduate Student by her department. Jennifer wants to contribute professionally to the Hmong community and started working toward that goal by researching Hmong families who have children with disabilities and their challenges finding services and resources. In her formal research defense, Jennifer shared how some parents were moved to tears by just having someone to talk to who understood their challenges. There are so many families in need of help and Jennifer is going to make sure there is somewhere they can find what they need. Thank you Jennifer. You are a champion.

Facebook just reminded us of 4 years ago when we performed at the 4th Annual Veterans Memorial Day in celebration of General Vang Pao at the City Hall in Chico. It was a pleasure to honor the efforts and sacrifices of the Hmong soldiers who fought in the Secret War/Vietnam War under the leadership of General Vang Pao.

Thank you.

Now Jennifer's words:

I can't get over this... Year after year the leaders worked so hard to break through their comfort zones and perform with abandon. We were successful, but then here comes Mk's youngest sister making every day a theater production. This performance, Coraline.
