Wildcat softball returns to CCAA play this weekend, hosting UC San Diego in big four-game series.

CHICO – Sixteen games. That's what April has in store for the Chico State softball team, and to say each game is important is certainly an understatement – every contest will have a direct bearing on whether the Wildcats continue to play in May or call it a season at the end of the month. Head Coach Angel Shamblin's squad continues its most challenging stretch of the 2015 scheduled this weekend, hosting the always-tough Tritons of UC San Diego for a big four-game weekend series. Doubleheaders are slated for Friday at 1 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m.

Chico State Men's Golf Post-Match Report: Docherty-ja vu; ’Cats rally in final round again

VALLEJO – Alistair Docherty and the Chico State men's golf team did it again. For the second straight week, the Wildcats' run of top-five finishes was in serious doubt entering the final round. And for the second straight week, Docherty led the Wildcats on a furious final round comeback to extend the streak.

Chico State women's high jumper Lauren Schnelli adds Wildcat of the Week to list of achievements.

Lauren Schnelli's first season as a member of the Chico State women's track & field team is shaping up to be something truly special. The junior transfer from Butte College has scored solidly in the high jump in each of her three 2015 meets, bettering her height each time. Schnelli continued her steady climb last Saturday, topping her week-old personal best, scoring an NCAA Provisional qualifying mark and moving higher up the Chico State all-time high jump Top 10 list at the American River Invitational in Sacramento. Her latest vertical effort makes Schnelli the latest Wildcat of the Week.

Chico State Head Baseball Coach Dave Taylor held nothing back in talking to the local newspaper after Saturday's doubleheader sweep, questioning his team's toughness and talent. The Wildcats certainly seemed motivated. They responded swiftly on Sunday, scoring four times in the first inning on the way to a 6-4 win against Cal State Monterey Bay at Nettleton Stadium.

TURLOCK – The bats started out hot Sunday, but the Chico State softball team was unable to come up with the key hit it desperately needed in crunch time. The Wildcats let an early lead slip away and surrendered an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth inning to bow to Western Washington 3-2 in the Tournament of Champions' Gold Bracket semifinal game at Pedretti Softball Complex in Turlock.

Wildcat softball has won four of five in Tournament of Champions after a pair of victories Saturday.

TURLOCK – It was the type of day every coach would like to bottle. Just about everything went right for the Chico State softball team Saturday, as the Wildcats registered two impressive victories during day two action at the Tournament of Champions in Turlock. After taking two out of three to begin tournament play Friday, the 'Cats continued to roll on Saturday, blanking Holy Names 3-0 at Pedretti Park before moving over to the Turlock Regional Sports Complex to hand Montana State-Billings a 9-1 defeat.

Chico State Baseball Postgame Wrap: Madrid delivers statement win for Wildcats

Ten minutes after delivering one of the biggest hits of the season, a walk-off, two-run single that gave the Chico State baseball team an 8-7 win against Cal State Monterey Bay, Tyler Madrid grabbed a rake and started tending to the area around first base.
