Morton College AECPO Adult Education Community Programming & Outreach is dedicated to building a strong future by providing community-based programs, activities & services.

Our Programs:

-Adult Basic Education (ABE)
These tuition-free pre-HSEC classes help students improve basic academic skills such as reading, writing and mathematics in order to transition the GED program.

-High School Equivalency Certificate (HSEC) formerly GED
HSEC classes help students prepare for the GED, TASC and HiSet exam test subjects – mathematics, science, social studies, arts/lite

rature and writing skills. The cost is a minimal fee of $3.00 per credit hour.


-English Language Acquisition (ELA) formerly ESL
The English Language Acquisition program assists individuals who need to improve their English skills for academic, professional, or personal purposes.


-Project CARE (Community Adult Reading Experience)
Project CARE is Morton College’s volunteer adult literacy program, which uses trained volunteer tutors to teach adult students seeking assistance with reading and writing,and/or adults require English Language Acquisition.


-Bridge to Healthcare Careers
The Bridge to Healthcare Careers Program introduces students to careers in the field of health care while improving their academic skills in preparation for taking the HSEC Tests (if required) and enroll in Morton College's Healthcare Career Certificate Programs.

For the purposes of compliance with Section 511 of Public Law 101-166 (the Stevens Amendment), Approximately 37% of the FY18 funding for Adult Education, Community Programming & Outreach, came from federal sources. The total amount of federal funding received in FY18 was $456,640.
