We are thrilled to announce D’Arcy Smith as the Director of the Digital Performance Lab. This lab is brand new, and will be in the Digital Futures Building at the University of Cincinnati.

The Digital Performance Lab will bridge industry and academia, advancing digital performance with motion capture, film, and voice-over, while fostering research and training opportunities.

We can’t think of a better person to lead our students in this position! Congratulations D’Arcy!

A huge congratulations to CCM Acting rising senior Debra Joan Najor, who was honored by the The Board of Governors with a $3,000 scholarship for her work in film production.

In addition to receiving their generous scholarship, Debra was also named the 2023 winner of a student Emmy for her film “Crescendo”

Check out rising CCM Acting senior Cassandra Reeves as she takes the stage this summer as Ophelia in ‘Hamlet’ with the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company.

The show runs now, through September 1st. All performances are FREE, on the outdoor ‘Shakespeare in the Park’ venue.

Wishing all the best for rising senior Debra Joan Najor as she settles into her 5 weeks in New York!

Debra will be spending over a month with Stella Adler- Physical Theater Lab. An intensive focused on the performing arts as well as physical theatre training. Classes experiment with mask, mime, clown, butoh, viewpoints, dance, and devised work!

You are awesome Deb!

Congratulations to CCM Acting alumni Jason Pavlovich, Rachel J. Jones and Lucas Prizant as they are currently in ‘Romeo and Juliet’ at the Oak Park Shakespeare Festival in Chicago.

Rachel J. Jones is playing Juliet, Lucas Prizant is playing Mercutio, and Jason Pavlovitch is playing Paris.

The production runs through August 17th - If you are in the Chicago area, do not miss it!

Congratulations to CCM Acting Alumni Jack Steiner, Isaac Hickox-Young, AC Horton, and Nathan Flesh as they are all busy at work at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey this summer!

Jack, Isaac, and Nathan just began previews of ‘The Book Of Will’ on the mainstage, with Jack Steiner and Isaac Hickox-Young as returning company members and Nathan Flesh in the Apprenticeship Training Program.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey Apprenticeship Training Program is run by CCM Acting alumni AC Horton, who is an associate casting director and teaching artist at The Shakespeare Theatre.

Don’t miss ‘The Book of Will,’ running through July 28th on the F.M. Kirby Theatre stage in Madison, New Jersey.

~FACULTY HIGHLIGHT~
Never any downtime for these two! Take a look at what Assistant Professor of Acting Samuel Stricklen and CCM Acting Chair Brant Russell are up to this summer!

Samuel and Brant have been hired by The National Theatre of Poland to lead a week of workshops for students from all over the country. Samuel is teaching viewpoints, and Brant is teaching inclusive script analysis.

The week will culminate in the students presenting devised work that utilizes the tools they have been taught.

Congratulations Brant Russell and Samuel Stricklen!

Head over to HBO MAX to check out CCM Acting alumni JP Maddock in their new special “SLAVE PLAY”!

JP plays Dustin in the filmed adaptation of Slave Play a documentary about theater and the actor’s process. JP had the opportunity of working directly with the writer Jermey O’ Harris!

This documentary aired on the 20th of this month, be sure to check it out!

Checking in from across the ocean rising junior Amanda Sant and rising sophomores Patrick Comunale and Sophie Stockton are settling into their month in Ireland!

Amanda, Patrick and Sophie are completing The Gaiety School of Acting: Intensive Irish Theatre Program

In this course actors will take part in a number of practical acting workshops and seminars carefully designed to enhance their knowledge on Irish playwrights.

In the four weeks they will develop an understanding of the historical and literary background of selected texts from each writer, in addition to studying their staging and dramaturgical aspects. Students will be cast in scenes that feature on the curriculum and on the final day the participants will perform a showcase of selected scenes from the various plays studied!

Check out rising sophomore Adrian Graff who is spending the summer with Pickleville Playhouse in Garden City, Utah!

Adrian is playing Butch in the original comedy musical Welcome to Dangerville and Oscar Delancey/Ensemble in Newsies!

So far he has performed 11 shows and will continue to perform 85+ shows total throughout the summer!

Keep it up kid!
