Week 5 began with a challenging core workout and sprints during Tuesday’s PT. On Thursday, cadets engaged in a ladder run and a flight box workout. FDE’s were the main focus of LLAB, allowing cadets to perform drill evaluations and refine their precision, bearing, and attention to detail. Shout out to cadets Centrulla and Losure who were awarded scholarships for their commitment and performance.

Crossing the one-third mark of the Fall Semester, this week highlighted the importance of high standards, driving cadets to push forward and come together as a team.

Week 4 focused on challenging the Cadets on the physical aspects. Tuesday’s PT focused on a core circuit that tested strength and endurance, while Thursday introduced the detachment to their first-ever HAMR run, pushing cadets to new limits.

During Lead Lab, cadets celebrated the Air Force’s birthday. The most junior and senior member of our detachment cuts the cake together symbolizing those who’ve served before and those who will carry on the mission.

C/Allen and C/Loring received Superior Performance Awards, while C/Rios and C/Armey were honored with the Warrior Flight Award. In addition, C/Mullen, C/Rios, and C/Gingrich were awarded scholarships, highlighting the dedication and excellence within Det 665.

The first three weeks of the semester set a strong tone for Detachment 665. Cadets kicked off Week 1 with handball to build teamwork and communication. During Leadership Laboratory (LLAB), C/Sommers, C/Fisher, and C/Koester officially contracted with the U.S. Air Force. Week 2 brought the semester’s first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) and celebrated C/Gatewood’s selection for an ICSP scholarship, all before closing out with the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) cookout hosted by Army ROTC. Week 3 carried that momentum forward as cadets participated in UC’s annual 9/11 Stair Run to honor those we lost, then wrapped up LLAB with lessons in customs and courtesies, continuing to shape our cadets into future leaders.

NSOP is officially complete!

Throughout the past five days, over 50 new cadets gained a strong foundation of the AFROTC program while learning the skills needed to thrive as UC students. With these tools, they’re prepared to take on their first week of college, both in the classroom and within the AFROTC program. Today, cadets had a celebratory breakfast along with an assortment of fun physical activities held at Sigma Sigma! Huge shout out to all the hands that went into making this possible, we are excited to see our new Aircats in action!
