🚨 New publication alert! 🚨

Congratulations to Assistant Professor-Educator of Management Daniel Peat, PhD, and Professor of Entrepreneurship and Strategy Charles H. Matthews, PhD, whose coauthored publication, “Lighting the Torch: Shaping Next Generation Human Capital Through Imprinting In or Beyond the Family Firm,” was accepted for publication to the Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development.

Peat explains: “This paper explores how early career experiences shape future leaders in family business. Specifically, we found that individuals who begin their careers inside the family firm develop deep firm-specific knowledge that improves performance and commitment, but can also limit adaptability and organizational learning over time. The findings suggest that family firms benefit most when next-generation leaders balance internal experience with outside exposure before stepping into leadership roles.”

Big ideas. Big conversation. Big Lindner pride. 🎙️✨

Lindner Dean Marianne Lewis had her research on paradoxical leadership featured on The Curiosity Shop, the weekly podcast from research professor Brené Brown and organizational psychologist Adam Grant grounded in learning and unlearning.

As Adam Grant shared, great leaders embrace “both/and” thinking instead of “either/or” — a concept central to Dean Lewis’ research on navigating complexity and leading through change. 📚🔥

Lindner’s Consulting Accelerator recently travelled to Boston, where students engaged with alumni and industry partners to deepen their understanding of the consulting industry and explore career pathways in management consulting.

The Consulting Accelerator prepares students for co-op and full-time opportunities in management consulting through a blend of academic and experiential learning, including coursework, case competitions, interview and skilled-based workshops, client development training and more.

“The level of thinking these students brought to every interaction was inspiring—our discussions didn't stop when we left the office; they carried through the streets of Boston all week,” said Program Manager Anna McCuiston. “I can’t wait to see how they apply these takeaways in the semesters to come.”
