A few weeks ago, Assistant Professors Yuqing Zhang, PhD, RN, and Sayonara Barbosa, PhD, RN, participated in the inaugural Midwest LEADRS Intensive, an NIH-funded R25 fellowship that prepares nurse scientists and other health professionals to identify, measure and develop interventions addressing the non-biological factors that influence health outcomes and advance health equity.

The intensive brought together 20 fellows from universities and disciplines across the Midwest for hands-on training in community-engaged research methods and the opportunity to learn directly from community partners. 🤝

We’re proud to see our faculty contributing to research that strengthens community partnerships, advances health equity and works toward meaningful improvements in health outcomes. 💙

🎉 Congratulations to Associate Professor Lori Catalano, PhD, JD, RN, i for presenting at Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners' Annual Conference on nurse burnout and its impact on safe practice, a timely topic every nurse can relate to. Dr. Catalano covered how burnout affects nurses at every level and shared practical ways to prevent it.

to College Day! 🐾

Last Friday, our first-year nursing students had the chance to meet their iLEAD mentors and classmates, get familiar with their fall schedules, and connect with faculty and advisors.

Our favorite part? Painting little pots and planting mini succulents with mentors and classmates, a fun reminder of our theme for the day: growing together.

We're excited to see these students grow into the nurses they're meant to be! 🩺💙

👋 Britt Archibald, DNP, RN: With more than three decades of experience as a certified pediatric nurse, Dr. Archibald brings expertise in patient safety, family-centered care, and nursing education. She will teach undergraduate and DNP students while mentoring future nurses and advancing innovative approaches to learning.

👋 Cindy Dehlinger, DNP, CNM: A doctorally prepared Certified Nurse Midwife and Family Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Dehlinger brings more than 25 years of experience in women’s health, clinical education, research, and quality improvement. She is dedicated to advancing evidence-based care and preparing future nurse midwives.

👋 Siv Nyanzi, DNP, FNP-BC: Dr. Nyanzi brings clinical experience in orthopedic surgery, telehealth, and advanced practice to the classroom. She is passionate about creating an engaging learning environment where students build confidence and grow as healthcare professionals.

👋 Portia Zaire, PhD, RN, CNE: A cancer health services researcher and National Clinician Scholar, Dr. Zaire brings expertise in cancer control, health policy, and preventive care delivery. Her research focuses on advancing evidence-based solutions that improve health outcomes and promote equitable care.

Congratulations to Assistant Professor Shannon White, DNP, APRN, CNP, on being named the 2026 Ohio NAPNAP Nurse Practitioner of the Year for her outstanding contributions to pediatric nursing through clinical excellence, leadership and advocacy. 🏆

A nurse practitioner in the Headache Center at Cincinnati Children's, Dr. White has advanced pediatric headache care by expanding the role of nurse practitioners, helping create a nurse practitioner-led acute care unit for patients with severe migraine, presenting nationally and internationally, and contributing to clinical research.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. White on this well-deserved recognition! 👏
