Future doctors are choosing Xavier to learn how to take care of community healthcare needs.

Early interest in the Xavier University College of Osteopathic Medicine is exceeding expectations, with hundreds of aspiring doctors applying to become members of its first class.

In the first month since opening its application portal, XUCOM received 1,455 applications, seeing 706 applicants in the first week alone!

“We are launching a unique educational experience centered on whole-person care and helping medical students achieve their calling. This initial surge in applications reaffirms that our school’s mission resonates with aspiring physicians,” said XUCOM Dean Dr. Steven Halm. "I am thrilled so many students see the value in our endeavor, and I encourage all who want to join a new chapter in medical education to apply.”

BREAKING NEWS: Xavier University College of Medicine is officially the first Jesuit College of Osteopathic Medicine in the country.

The Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation has approved Xavier to start training the next generation of osteopathic doctors in fall 2027.

“Today we celebrate a transformative milestone extending far beyond Xavier’s campus,” said President Colleen Hanycz. “Our new medical college represents Xavier’s direct response to a critical national need for primary care physicians, built on a curriculum tailored to the evolving demands of modern medicine.”

“We are now focused on inviting a pioneering class of medical students, who are energized by and ready to embrace Xavier’s mission and ensuring they are uniquely equipped to embark on bigger lives through their chosen profession.”
