DAAP (official) A comprehensive research and design institution.

DAAP offers undergraduate majors in Architecture, Art History, Fashion Design, Fine Arts (with an optional teaching licensure), Graphic Communication Design, Horticulture, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Urban Planning, and Urban Studies. DAAP offers the following graduate degrees: Master of Architecture, Master of Art Education, Master of Community Planning, Master of Design, Master of Science in Architecture, Master of Fine Arts, and PhD in Regional Development Planning.

From the classroom to London ✈️

During the summer, we’re looking back at some of the experiences, achievements, and moments lived by DAAP students and faculty throughout the spring semester. And we’re starting with “The Black Body in European Art,” a course led by Dr. Theresa Leininger-Miller, with spring break in London.

UC students traveled to the United Kingdom for an immersive experience connecting art, history, and cultural dialogue. They visited renowned museums, including the Tate Modern, Tate Britain, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the National Gallery of Art, the National Portrait Gallery, the Wallace Collection, the British Museum, and Manchester Art Gallery.

The experience featured guided visits with Michael Ohajuru and Nadia Denton, as well as Black History Walks with Angela Morgan and Tony Warner, helping students engage with questions of representation, identity, and the Black presence in European paintings and sculpture. Seminar participants also went on a panoramic bus tour of London and attended the musical, Marie & Rosetta.

Exploring ideas in 3D!

See what happens inside a Communication Design class at DAAP, where students are exploring ideas beyond the screen.
Using Meta headsets, Professor Matthew Furber guides students through immersive environments that help them think about space, projection, interaction, and how design exists in the real world.

At DAAP, emerging technologies become part of the creative process, helping students experiment, prototype, and imagine new possibilities for communication and human experience. This is experiential learning in action!

Art & Architecture Uncovered at DAAP and Uptown Campus

This week we welcomed arts leaders, educators, and creative advocates from across Ohio through Arts Impact Ohio, a statewide gathering organized by the Ohio Arts Council and centered on professional development, collaboration, and the arts.

As part of the program, DAAP hosted “Art & Architecture Uncovered,” an afternoon exploring public art, architecture, creative research, and hands-on learning across the University of Cincinnati campus. Visitors experienced guided tours, sessions in the library and printmaking spaces, and conversations around the role of creativity in education and community impact.

The visit highlighted how learning, making, and interdisciplinary collaboration come together every day at DAAP!

The runway as a living canvas!

On May 1, DAAPFASH26 unfolded as a living composition, nearly 200 looks across 42 collections, each one carrying a distinct voice, a process, a vision.

Behind the scenes, an extraordinary collective brought the show to life. Dozens of quick changes, executed with precision, created the unique rhythm of the runway. This show is a testament to the dedication, talent, and care of our students and the team who make it happen year after year.

A special recognition to Lisk Wilson, celebrating her 30th year leading this iconic show and shaping generations of designers.

The night closed with a runway celebration, as graduating students came together for a grand finale!

Celebrating excellence at DAAPworks 2026! 🩷💜

Our Opening Remarks & Awards Ceremony recognized the creativity, rigor, and impact of this year’s graduating students. Dean Stephanie Pilat’s remarks opened the event in her first year leading DAAP.

We were proud to celebrate the Director’s Choice Awards, recognizing outstanding projects across the college. School directors took the stage to honor students from their programs.

The 1819 Innovation Hub Award recognized five students, highlighting innovation and impact. For another year, 1819 strengthens its partnership with DAAP and represents UC in recognizing our students.

SEGD (Society for Experiential Graphic Design) also presented two award categories, recognizing work across disciplines.

The Horticulture Industry Excellence Award brought together leading Cincinnati horticultural organizations to recognize outstanding student capstone work.

Through the newly created Creative Impact Awards, we were honored to partner with industry leaders who joined us in selecting and recognizing exceptional work:
Charley Harper Art Studio , GBBN Architects , ArtWorks Cincinnati, and Cincinnati Opera.

We’re grateful to all partners who dedicated their time to reviewing student projects.

Thank you to our students and faculty for the work, dedication, and ideas that made this moment so meaningful.
