Brothers, Friends, and Family,
We raise money for the University of Cincinnati Dance Marathon (UCDM) every year, but this year is different. My best friend and our fraternity brother Rob Weidner is UCDM president. This year he has set different expectations; he will raise over $100,000 dollars to support Champions of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
These expectations have changed since Rob was a success story. One month into his junior year of high school, Rob was diagnosed with leukemia and was forced to set aside his academics, extra-curricular activities, and social life to begin chemotherapy in order to focus on beating cancer. Throughout this process, Rob endured many challenges but was lucky to have a great support system and one of the best pediatric hospitals in the country just down the road to treat and cure him.
Each year, UC Dance Marathon hosts one of the largest student-run philanthropic events on campus, and we are excited for this year’s event, BearcatTHON, on December 1st! BearcatTHON is a 12-hour event where we gather together to increase community between UC and the City of Cincinnati while celebrating our fundraising efforts for life-saving treatment for the Champions of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. This year, a couple of our brothers serve on the Leadership Team, and one of our brothers and my best friend as previously mentioned is the current President. Rob continues to do patient advocacy work due to his own battle with cancer.
This year, my goal is to raise $5,000 in support of Champions like Rob and to fight for the next generation. This year, we hope to inspire others to engage in giving back to a community partner that has done so much for our families, our friends, and our City.
Please help us as fraternity brothers reach Ohio Epsilon's fundraising goal of $10,000 by donating at the link below. Any contribution will help and all donations are tax deductible.
