On Saturday evening, the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and Diocese of Covington joined together for Catholic Family Night at the Cincinnati Reds game. As part of it our own Fr. Jacob Willig (2018 MTSM alum, Director of the Propaedeutic Stage) caught the ceremonial first pitch from his brother, Fr. Michael Willig (2022 MTSM alum, Vocations Director for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati).

In addition, they honored the legacy of their uncle, the late Fr. Jim Willig (1977 MTSM alum, founder of Heart to Heart). To learn more about Fr. Jim's legacy 25 years after his passing, read this story from this month's The Catholic Telegraph ➡️ https://thecatholictelegraph.com/remembering-fr-jim-willig/

Over the weekend, our friend Martin Pasi passed away, he was 72 years old. Pasi was the designer and builder of our Pasi Opus 29 pipe organ in the Chapel of St. Gregory the Great. In Summer 2023 when the organ was installed, Pasi lived at MTSM for three months, time when many in the Seminary community got to spend time with him and know him.

Following completion of our organ, Pasi moved his organ building operation to St. John's Abbey in Collegeville, Minnesota, where he established St. John's Abbey Organ Builders to ensure his organ building legacy continued beyond his lifetime.

You can read his full obituary below. Our prayers go out to Martin's family and coworkers, many of whom are also great friends to the Seminary.

On Wednesday evening, MTSM welcomed members of its St. Gregory's Legacy Society (SGLS) for Mass and Dinner with the Seminary Community. During dinner, members who had joined in the past calendar year were recognized and presented with a certificate.

SGLS members are those who have committed to leaving the Seminary in their estate plans, demonstrating a belief and commitment to furthering the education and formation for future leaders of the Church that they will never meet.

Thank you to the SGLS members who could join us on Wednesday and all SGLS members who have committed to the future of the work done at MTSM.

Today we join the Universal Church in celebrating the Memorial of St. Gregory the Great, Pope and Doctor of the Church. St. Gregory the Great is the patron saint of students and teachers, and is the namesake for the main chapel at MTSM.

Prior to the start of the academic year, our priest faculty and seminarians did their annual Campus Eucharistic Procession, asking for the Lord's blessing over the place where His call is discerned and His shepherds are formed.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support of everyone in formation at MTSM.
