From Pomona to the State Capitol, Meagan Tokunaga Block ’15 has built a career focused on affordable housing and public service.

After double majoring in public policy analysis and politics, she began her public service career through the Capital Fellows Program. Today, she serves as a director at the California Housing Finance Agency, helping develop strategies to support low- and moderate income renters and homebuyers across California.

Through Pomona’s Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP), students explored how communities work and what helps them thrive.

Ariana Delabra ’29 interviewed Latino restaurant workers in San Jose to better understand how neighborhood restaurants can serve as spaces of culture, connection and belonging. Leo Peters ’28 researched the experiences of gay Generation X men, examining identity, history and community across generations. Lina McRoberts ’27 spent 10 weeks on Lopez Island improving a community composting system while studying how science can support local sustainability.

Move-In Day marked the beginning of a new chapter for Pomona’s newest Sagehens 💙

Pomona welcomed 414 first-year and 28 transfer students to campus for the 2026-27 academic year, with students representing 42 states, Washington, D.C., and 27 countries.

From crowds of families to OA leaders, HRL staff and cheering students, Move-In Day was full of Sagehen spirit. After taking their class photo on the steps of Carnegie Hall, the day ended with one of Pomona’s most memorable traditions: the first walk Through the Gates.

Sagehens spotted at Union Station?

Pomona-Pitzer football makes an appearance in Play, an exhibition by artist Pelle Cass currently on view in LA Metro’s Passageway Gallery at Union Station.

Cass’ photography captures entire games in a single image, layering athletes, plays and moments from across a sporting event. The exhibition features 36 illuminated works celebrating sports and movement as Los Angeles prepares to welcome major sporting events in the coming years.

If you’re passing through Union Station, keep an eye out for the Sagehens. Chirp! 💙
