From breakthrough to bedside, innovation only matters when it reaches patients. Bioprocessing is the critical bridge that transforms scientific discovery into accessible, scalable therapies. KGI’s Master of Engineering in Biopharmaceutical Processing (MEng) equips students with the technical expertise, industry experience, and leadership skills needed to drive innovation in biotech and pharma.

What sets the program apart?

🔬 Hands-on lab intensive training and industry-relevant curriculum integrating science and engineering
💻 Computational skills including Python, Design of Experiments (DoE), machine learning for life sciences, and statistical analysis
🤝 Industry-sponsored Team Master Projects (TMP) solving real-world bioprocessing problems for biotech and pharma companies
🎯 Team Design Project: Working on manufacturing process design including Quality by Design (QbD) approach and SuperPro Designer for mass balance, facility design and process economics for Cell Therapy, Gene Therapy and Mabs
🌐 Mentorship and networking with biopharma leaders
🚀 Mandatory internships (previous internships include Amgen, Genentech, Regeneron, AstraZeneca, and more)

Whether your background is in science or engineering, the MEng program prepares you to make an impact where it matters most: improving patient access to life-changing therapies.

A legacy rooted in student success 💡

Earlier today, KGI celebrated the dedication of the Ross and Deborah Grossman Student Success Center – a space that reflects a commitment to empowering the next generation of healthcare and biotech leaders.
Through their significant financial contributions to the Institute, the Grossmans are investing in first-generation student success through scholarships, specialized programming, and long-term support designed to remove barriers and create opportunity.

As KGI Board of Trustees Chair, Ross Grossman has long championed the KGI community through leadership, mentorship, and meaningful connection with students. Now, the Grossmans’ impact will continue for generations to come through initiatives that help students thrive academically, professionally, and personally.

Thank you, Ross and Deborah, for your continued belief in KGI students and the transformative power of education.

It's hard to believe the 2026 Riggs School Reach Symposium wrapped up just last week!

We’re still energized by the incredible work our students shared from research presentations to Team Master’s and Team Design Projects - all highlighting both deep expertise and real-world impact.

A huge thank you to our visiting presenters, including keynote speaker Alborz Mahdavi, founder & CEO of Protomer Technologies and Head of Diabetes at Eli Lilly, for delivering insights that left a lasting impression on our community. We’re also grateful to Amgen for serving as our visionary sponsor, and to Casa Colina, BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc., New England Biolabs, and iPill for supporting our poster sessions and helping make the event a success.
