Our activities: we push our members to learn about sustainability topics in the classroom and through conferences. We also test ideas in the real world by launching sustainability-minded projects and by sending teams to national case competitions. Campus projects: No one is better at designing, launching, and managing a project than are business school students. Past projects include engineering a
n "Adopt-A-Recycling Bin" competition to study recycling at CGU, raising money with a national philanthropy group to fight local hunger, and conducting energy audits at local businesses. Case competitions: Drucker students are a different type of MBA, and nowhere is this better demonstrated than during case competitions. Competitions allow students to demonstrate their mastery of skills, knowledge, and creativity alongside other MBAs. Past case topics include engaging low-wage employees and increasing national recycling rates. Conferences: Besides being a strong force in regional Southern California events, we also explore the cutting edge of sustainability and network with sustainability-minded professionals by sending delegates to the national Net Impact conference. Past keynotes have included Yvon Chouinard, Founder of Patagonia; Jeff Immelt, CEO of General Electric; Chad Holliday, CEO of DuPont; and Al Gore, Chairman of Generation Investment Management and former Vice President of the United States. Education: We strive to ensure students are given opportunity to learn about sustainability academically, both inside the school curriculum and as a supplement to traditional Drucker classes. Past efforts include designing a semester long course on sustainability topics, publishing a catalog of 7C sustainability classes, and hosting campus speakers.
