Project Decode at Harvey Mudd College

Project Decode at Harvey Mudd College The Office of Institutional Diversity (OID) offers a program called Project Decode.

Project Decode is for first-generation &/or low-income students providing workshops, guidance, events, and more to support your educational journey and academic success! The Office of Institutional Diversity (OID) serves as a social justice education hub for the entire Harvey Mudd campus community. OID is guided by three primary goals: to increase Awareness, Allyship and Action through our work. A

wareness

OID strives to foster the campus’ engagement with and understanding of critical issues, including bias, power, and privilege. We actively counter racism, sexism, classism, heteronormativity, ableism, and other forms of institutionalized oppression. Allyship

We aim to offer students, faculty, and staff the skills, training, and space for dialogue to serve as allies to one another on the path to a socially just and equitable society. Our programming model includes speakers, educational series, events, and trainings. Action

OID ultimately wants to empower the campus community to take action on the issues that matter to them, guided by a social justice framework. Thank you so much to everyone who came to our photo booth this past Thursday to and ! It was amazing to see the Mudd community come together and celebrate the success of first-generation and/or low-income students – those who are often in face of emotional, financial, social, and academic barriers to thriving at a very challenging institution.

To Decoders at Mudd, you all are amazing! Even though it might not seem like it all the time, you are where you're supposed to be, and the world is in awe of your resilience and persistence. Mudd isn't easy, but you're still pushing, you're still trailblazing, and you're still striving to be the best you can be. So please continue to celebrate yourself every single day! We look forward to continuing to support you and celebrate with you!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by and signed up today at Club Expo! We’re on to something: now a student organization, we have the mobility and resources to create the community we aspire to be. One where we can voice concerns unique to being first generation and/or low-income and support each other through the ups and downs of this institution.

We’re overjoyed by the wonderful ideas we’ve heard and the many students who have expressed interest to join leadership and make Decode the best it can be. Keep on the lookout for the first meeting which will be published via this page and our email list.

If you know any Mudder who would be interested in Decode, we would love that you direct them to our page and this signup form: https://goo.gl/forms/yqFOrM2n8SO7xi2t1
